With confidence high on the back of a four-game unbeaten streak, the hosts made the perfect start to the match as Marc-Oliver Kempf headed home from a few yards out following Martin Baturina’s excellent delivery, handing the Lariani the lead after 10 minutes.

Shortly after, Como went close to doubling their advantage against a half-asleep Milan side, when captain Lucas Da Cunha blazed the ball over the bar from a very promising position.

Cesc Fabregas’ side continued to impress as the first half progressed, and, at the midway point, Mike Maignan was forced to smartly tip the ball around the post to deny Nico Paz’s curling 20-yard effort.

With half-time looming, the Rossoneri had Maignan to thank for not falling further behind, as the goalkeeper made an outstanding reflex stop to prevent Anastasios Douvikas from scoring with a close-range header.

Moments later, Douvikas was denied once again as his rasping shot from inside the box was well saved by Maignan at his near post.

Remarkably, despite Como’s dominance, the visitors equalised on the stroke of half-time when Adrien Rabiot was fouled by Kempf inside the 18-yard area, resulting in a penalty being awarded. Christopher Nkunku stepped up to take the spot-kick and found the back of the net to mark his fourth Serie A goal of the season and somehow put Milan back on level terms.

However, the Lariani didn’t feel sorry for themselves, and they began the second half on the front foot, with Maignan making a tremendous save to deny Paz from edging the hosts back in front.

After 55 minutes, Milan showed their killer instinct, making the hosts pay for their missed opportunities, as Rabiot latched onto an exquisite through ball from Rafael Leão before superbly placing the ball past Jean Butez to put the visitors in front.

Como pressed hard for an instant equaliser and came desperately close to achieving that when Paz’s 25-yard effort smacked off the bar.

With full-time on the horizon, the visitors killed the game off in spectacular fashion after Rabiot beat Butez from 25 yards out to net Milan’s third and silence the home crowd.

After collecting three points on the road, the Rossoneri remain in second position in Serie A, and Massimiliano Allegri’s side will aim to record two wins on the bounce in their next game at home against Lecce on Sunday. Meanwhile, Como stay in sixth place despite losing their unbeaten home record in the league.
